✨ Why I Started *The Host’s Manual*
I’ve always had a soft spot for hospitality, and I’m pretty sure my Moroccan roots have something to do with it. In Morocco, hosting is more than offering someone a place to stay. It’s a way of showing care, respect, and generosity. It’s how we connect.
Fast forward to now: I’ve been hosting guests for a year in Marrakech “the red city” that completely stole my heart. I still remember visiting as a tourist, long before I started this journey. The buzzing medinas, the smell of spices in the air, the bright mosaics, hidden riads, rooftop terraces, street musicians. It’s a city that constantly surprises you. Locals like to call it "Bahja", which translates to "the joyful one" or "the happy place" in Arabic. This nickname reflects the vibrant and lively atmosphere of the city, particularly within the Medina.
Even though the hospitality scene in Marrakech is crowded and competitive, I decided to give it a shot. Not because it was easy. Not because the market was waiting for me. But because I felt something stronger: a mix of passion and possibility. I knew there was room, not necessarily on the market, but in the experience I wanted to offer.
At first, it was about creating a second income stream. But over time, hosting became so much more than that. I started to see how meaningful it was to connect people with this city and its culture, its history, its beauty. There’s something incredibly rewarding about making guests feel at home in a place that’s so far from their own.
Now I’m taking what I’ve learned and sharing it with others. If you’re curious about hosting, already doing it, or dreaming of turning it into something bigger, than this newsletter is for you.
In The Host’s Manual, I’ll share everything I’ve learned (and continue learning) about being a great host:
